Client requirement: to update the company website to reflect how the business had grown.
AJ Electrical Services Ltd is a business that provides Electrical Engineers to carry out a multitude of different projects. The business was started by Neil Mcleod and supported by his wife Joanne who handles all the financial and business support aspects of the business.
Neil and Joanne took the bold move back in 2011 to setup on their own and build a business that matched their own ideals.
As with most electrical engineer contractors starting out on their own AJ Electrical Services did many small jobs including domestic and electrical testing. But over time as the business gained a reputation for high quality work and professionalism AJ Electrical Services began to win larger contracts working with bigger main contractors on projects such as Crossrail.
As the business has evolved and grown then so was it also time for the website to change to reflect the growth and market sectors that AJ Electrical Services now operates.

The Solution
Time for the breakdown…
This project already had a defined logo and the client was happy with their branding which was already on company clothing and vans. There wasn’t the need for a complate rebrand along with associated costs. However, from a branding perspective there was the need to ensure consistent application across the website as well as the companies social media channels.
The first tool in demonstrating that scale of AJ Electrical Services was to include three large impact images which automatically scrolled, showcasing the size of project which the company had been engaged to participate in. Overlaying the images were statements which supported the companies ethos and competency.
The style of website is that of a single page so the visitor scolls down the page with a gradual build up of information about the business or organisation. With certain aspects of the homepage such as with blogs it is then possible to click a “Learn more” button to be taken through to a more detailed piece of content.
On AJ Electrical Services single page website the next two section give more information about the scale of the business with an image of multiple branded vans lined up, and then a map graphic which displays the core areas covered. Scrolling down the page further and the visitor is presented with the Services covered, with “Commercial” and “Industrial” being centre stage but no longer any mention of “Domestic”.
The next three sections continue to reinforce the message of size, quality of clients, and high level of professionalism and client satisfaction. Within the “Our Specialities” section there are logo’s of large organisations who demand high levels of competency and ability for engineers to work in restricted areas. This is then further backed up by the “Our Clients” section where there are some fantastic endorsements from happy clients where people are willing to put their names alongside their words of praise.
Before we get to the fairly standard “Contact Us” section at the foot of the page we have a “News” section where visitors to the site can read blogs about previous project. The News and Our Clients sections give the opportunity to keep adding content to the site to make it current and which can be shared on social media. Also fresh content, sprinkled with just the right volume of “key words” is what Google loves and will help lift the site up the Google rankings and draw in more clients of the type AJ Electrical Services wants to target and build long lasting relationships with.
